Run over by train 

Puri: A passenger was run over by Puri- Howrah Express near Puri station on Sunday. Following the accident, the train left 40 minutes late and the services on this route were delayed. Though the government railway police had seized the body,  the deceased was not identified. 

No allowance

Bhubaneswar: Members of the BJP legislature party (BJPLP) on Sunday decided not to receive the sitting allowance from the Assembly, as the House could not transact business during the winter session. The ruling BJD allegedly did not allow the legislature to run, said BJPLP  leader Basant Kumar Panda.

Arrested

Balasore: Jaleswar police arrested a 28-year-old history-sheeter Akshay Giri on Sunday. He was involved in highway robberies and snatching. Giri was arrested from his rented house. 

Three killed

Berhampur: Three fishermen were killed and seven injured in a road accident at Pustapur Square under Beguniapada outpost of Kodala police limits on Sunday. The deceased were identified as Lokanath Behera, 32, Shanti Behera, 60, both from Sunapur and Sashi Behera, 45.

Grocer attacked 

Kendrapara: An anti-social chopped off the hand of a 34-year-old man on Sunday afternoon in a village under Derabish police limits. It triggered tension in the locality. The accused Trilochan Mallah brandished a sharp-edged weapon and launched a murderous attack on Manoranjan Rout, a grocer shop owner of the village.

Balasore: DIG (eastern range) Aseet Panigrahi inaugurated a new building for the Basta police station worth  Rs 77 lakh on Saturday. Superintendent of  police Awinash Kumar was present.

Sambalpur:  Dibrugarh University of Assam in collaboration with the Lakshminath Bezbaroa Smruti Committee, Sambalpur organised the concluding function of the 150th birth anniversary of the Assamese writer, Lakshminath Baroa on Sunday, who had spent 20 years here.  

OTET held

 Bhubaneswar:  Examination for the Odisha Teachers’’ Eligibility Test (OTET) was held across the state on Sunday.
