OCA plea rejected 

Cuttack: Orissa High Court rejected Odisha Olympic Association's petition, on Wednesday, for a stay order on the take-over of encroachments that it had allegedly established at the Barabati Stadium. It had sought the stay, as it would file an appeal to the Supreme Court against the High Court verdict.

District award

Bhubaneswar: Mayurbhanj district administration bagged the award of best district for rehabilitation of physically disabled. District collector Rajesh Prvakar Patil received the award at a ceremony held at 
Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on Wednesday. 

Two arrested

Bhubaneswar: Police arrested two persons in Balianta on Wednesday and seized silver ornaments weighing around 4kg and gold ornaments of 70 grams. The police said the duo of Madhab Mohapatra, 32, and Bikram Biswal, 30, was involved in a number of burglaries and snatching in the area.

Whale dead

Puri: A 20ft-long whale died along the Astarang shore in Puri district on Wednesday. It had been washed ashore and could not return to the water. Despite making all efforts, the locals could not move it into the sea. The whale died around noon.
