
Sambalpur: A 10-day book fair organised by Setu, a leading socio-cultural organisation since 1990, is attracting large numbers of students from various age groups.
Ninety-one publishers and book sellers have set up their kiosks at the 20th Sambalpur Book Fair.
For the first time, seven publishers from outside state are taking part in the fair.
Odisha Sahitya Academy and Kendriya Sahitya Academy have also taken part in the book fair, said Rama Ballav Mishra, president of Setu. This year, the Setu Samman was presented to educationist and writer Minaketan Purohit.
This apart, the Balakrushna Smruti Samman was conferred to Parameswar Das, a former headmaster of a school.
The Karmayogi Mahila Samman was given to Meena Kumari Seth, a staff nurse of Veer Surendra Sai Medical Colege Hospital, Burla.
The Khirod Mishra Smruti Puraskar was given to Manisa Samal of Saraswari Sishu Mandir in Burla for securing highest mark in the Board of Secondary High School Examination in the Sambalpur district.
The colourful entrance gate of the book fair has been named after Late Mahanta Nilamaber Das and the stage has been named after Late Sripati Mishra, writer and the first journalist of Sambalpur.
