Berhampur: The Berhampur University has introduced a trial run of the biometric attendance system to regularise and modernise its functioning mechanism and ensure timely attendance of its teaching and non-teaching staff.
"We have installed three units of biometric attendance machine in the three-storey administrative block. Each floor has been provided with one machine. All the employees were instructed to put e-attendance by pressing their finger indicating entry into the office accordingly," said registrar Sailendra Dwivedi.
"All the staff are required to come to the university in time and put their attendance through the biometric roll call by 11am on each working day and the exit should be marked not before 4.30pm," he said.
"If the entry of the employee is recorded between 11 am to 12 noon, it would be automatically treated as a half-day casual lave. Entry after 1pm will be treated as a full-day leave. The employees are advised not to make multiple impressions on the device as the first successful biometric attendance will record entry and the next successful one will indicate exit," he said.
The biometric system will ensure timely attendance of all the varsity staff and subsequent timely service to the public.
