Balasore set for rural and trade fair

500 kiosks to come up on ITI ground

Balasore: The district is all set to host the five-day Balasore Mahotsav, Pallishree Mela and Expo-2018 on the ground of the local Industrial Training Institute here from Wednesday.

A final review meeting was held under the chairmanship of the district collector Ramesh Chandra Rout, which was attended by the representatives of industries, officers of line departments including district industries centre, and the Odisha Rural Development and Marketing Society (Ormas).

"This event is being organised with the support of central and state governments. The administration is providing all kinds of support for its success, " said the district collector.

"Efforts have been made for the smooth conduct of the annual festival," he added.

There will be 500 kiosks and the budget for the event is about Rs 25 lakh.

Balasore Chamber of Industries and Commerce has been the key initiator of the event, while district small scale industries association and North Odisha Chamber of Commerce and Industries are extending support for smooth conduct and success of the fair.

Defence units, such Proof and Experimental Establishment and Integrated Test Range, will showcase their success stories through models and demonstrations.

During the five-day festival, period seminar and discussions on various issues would be held focusing vendors' development, said organizers.

"The objective is to bring large industrial houses, government departments, PSUs, multinationals, export houses, small and medium enterprises, SMEs, and self-help groups on a common platform and to establish market linkages for them," said BCIC presi-dent Himansu Das.
