School honour
Buxi Jagabandhu English Medium School, Bhubaneswar, felicitated the state toppers and other star achievers for their exceptional endeavours at a ceremony at Bhanja Kala Mandap. Achievers with scores of 90 per cent or above were given certificates and mementos.
Film fest
Children in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar were treated to popular children’s films from around the globe recently. Children and their parents gathered at Bakul Children’s Library at Satya Nagar, Bhubaneswar, and Tulasipur, Cuttack, where international children films were simultaneously screened. Apart from the screening , the organisers also hosted an interactive session for the kids where they were asked questions related to the films.
Reading day
Students of DAV Public School, Chandrasekharpur, observed national reading day on Tuesday. The main objective of the day is to inculcate regular habit of reading. All teachers and staff members of the school spent the day reading at the school's central library.
Discussion
Forty Niladri Vihar slum residents interacted with Union school secretary Anil Swarup during his recent three-day visit to Bhubaneswar. Member of the slum's children's club, Mamta Nayak, shared the activities of their club such as enrolment campaigns, dengue awareness, and enrolment of dropouts and child domestic workers in government schools. Children also spoke on campaigns to stop child marriages and spreading awareness on the right to education in slum pockets. During the interaction, Swarup discussed with the children about their future and urged them to strive hard to achieve their goals despite challenges.
Silver jubilee
Raja Artatran High School of Khariar in Nuapada will complete 75 years in October and is set to celebrate the platinum jubilee on the occasion. The school was established in 1943 by Raja Artatran Deo of Khariar. A meeting, convened by headmaster Nakul Sabar, was held recently to discuss plans for the celebrations. It was decided that the jubilee would be held from October 19 to 22.
