Bhubaneswar: Police have detained two persons in connection with the murder of a 28-year-old lady teacher at Haripur in Khordha district. However, the cops are yet to ascertain the crime motive.
The police along with the scientific team have found a bamboo from the crime scene, which is suspected to be the murder weapon.
The body of Anjali Dehury, who worked at Ugratara nodal school at Haripur, was found in a paddy field with injuries on the head and face.
Khordha superintendent of police, D.R Ray, said Balugaon Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) had been handed over the investigation of the case. "The family members of the deceased are under trauma and not in a position to share anything. Prima-facie it appears that someone dealt a sharp blow on the head leading to her death. We are also waiting for the post-mortem report," said Ray.
Further investigation by the police revealed that the deceased, a native of Begunia, was not married and was staying at the rented accommodation at Haripur for past one year. The deceased taught history and geography at the school. "Her colleagues said that she was as usual in the school on Thursday. They said she was friendly by nature and have never mentioned about any rivalry with anyone," said a police official.
Villagers demanded the arrest of the accused at the earliest. "The law and order situation has deteriorated in the area. The murder of the teacher in the broad day light reflects the audacity of assailants. We demand the arrest of the accused and better patrolling," said a villager.
