Cuttack, June 3: A person was arrested today for allegedly withdrawing Rs 37,000 from the bank account of a woman without her knowledge. The incident of duping took place at the State Bank of Hyderabad ATM counter on Link Road on May 30.
The accused has been identified as Sambhav Acharya, 23, of Balichandrapur in Jajpur district.
It is for the second time that Acharya has been caught by police for withdrawing money from the bank accounts of others in the city.
The police said Acharya, in a bid to assist a professor, Rajashree Mishra, in her transaction, had withdrawn the amount from her account from the State Bank of Hyderabad ATM counter on Link Road.
On June 23 last year, he was arrested for withdrawing Rs 35,000 from the account of one Binod Bihari Padihari of Anandpur on June 19.
“I had gone to the ATM counter with my sister and withdrew Rs 3,000. A man, who was already inside the counter, tried to help me, and later, he recorded the PIN number, which I entered to withdraw the cash, in his mobile phone,” said Rajashree, the complainant.
