Jorhat, June 9: Molin Medhi of Makhi Baha village in Tihu, Nalbari district, dreams of entering Guinness World Records by singing non-stop for 30 minutes with his lips sealed. He will show this feat of ventriloquism to an audience at the Puja Mandir here on Monday evening.

Talent Hunt, a Jorhat-based organisation, is helping Medhi in his venture.

Talking to reporters here today, the 44-year-old ventriloquist said he did not have the means to it alone. “I have sung on TV and also done stage shows and my talent has been recognised by the people. But I have not aimed for any records. When I sing on Monday, the state representative of Unique World Record book, Zaheer Abbas Kayum, will be present. If I can set a record here, then I’ll try for the Limca Book of Records, India Book of Records and then the Guinness,” he said.

The present ventriloquist-singer, who holds a record of singing non-stop in both male and female voices for 12 minutes and 12 seconds in the Unique World Record book is Kudupudi Sreedhar of Hyderabad. He had achieved this feat on December 12, 2010.

Medhi, who belongs to a family of farmers, said he had practised singing this way from the age of 22. “It is very difficult but I kept on practising as I thought that I had exceptional talent. However, I have never practised talking,” he said.

Sajid Rahman, president of Talent Hunt, Jorhat said many such talented people existed in the nooks and corners of the state and their organisation was committed to finding out these people and bringing them into the limelight. Rajib Kr Hazarika, general secretary of Talent Hunt, said they would help Medhi all the way.
