Voice of India Deboit Saha writes about his experience with a magnificent creation of Nature

Just a few days ago, I was in Canada to take part in a solo programme organised by the Toronto Sanskritik Gosthi, a socio-cultural organisation of the desi population in Ontario.

All I can say is that it was one of the most wonderful experiences for me, not just from a musical point of view but also spiritually.

First, the music. The programme at Toronto was held in the auditorium of a Don Bosco School — yes, they have the schools everywhere around the globe — to a packed audience consisting mainly of Bengalis. Many were from Bangladesh too.

Despite a 22-hour flight, I did not feel too tired as I took the stage and started singing right away. This time, I sang to pre-set music tracks.

But the audience said they loved every minute of it. I sang mostly Bengali, some Hindi numbers and also a Bihu song. I explained to the audience that it was the Bihu season back home in Assam and hence I had to sing one to go with the season.

Since there was no music set for Bihu, I had to keep pace by clapping my hands. The audience too joined in and the result was very musical, I must say. I had many requests for specific songs, which I tried to fulfil. It was a very fulfilling programme indeed.

The next day I had the opportunity of visiting Niagara Falls and it turned out to be one of the most memorable moments of my life.

I had heard about the waterfall so many times from so many people that I just had to go there. And when I stood in front of it, it felt like I was in a different world. The pure magnificence of the place, the sheer power of Nature and the breathtaking beauty all combine to make Niagara a place beyond compare.

One cannot but become humble at the magic of God’s creation, the roar of water drowning everything else, the size of the falls dwarfing everything else.

I felt like a child as I hollered like all tourists there, just to see how much you can hear your own voice above the thundering water falling off the huge cliff.

The place gave me so much positive vibes that I came back a very content man. I know now that despite all of our achievements, Nature will always remain above us.
