Guwahati, Oct. 9: The United Minority Front (UMF) today failed to arrive at a decision on whether to merge with the newly-floated United Democr-atic Front (UDF), saying it was not yet fully convinced about the anti-Congress stand of the conglomeration of 13 organisations led by the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind.

A meeting attended by 105 of the 144 council members of the UMF, demanded that the UDF give a public statement on whether it would support the Congress if chief minister Tarun Gogoi was removed from the helm. Though no decision was taken, an 11-member panel was formed to consider “public opinion” and discuss the issue with the UDF.
