Guwahati, Nov. 21: Third seed Abhimanyu Vennemreddy and eighth seed Karan Srivastava crashed out of the under-18 boys' singles event on the opening day of the ITF Juniors World Ranking Tennis Tournament at the All- Assam Tennis Association Complex here today.
Unseeded Sumitpal Singh surprised Vennem Reddy 6-4, 6-2 whileSaarang Pandit, another unseeded player, had a relatively comfortable second set to upset Srivastava 7-6, 6-3.
All the other seeds, however, moved to the second round.
Top seed Parikshit Somanidefeated Amit Beniwal 6-3, 7-6 to move to the second round while second seed Nitin Kumar Sinha blanked Sacchitt Sharrma 6-0, 6-0.
Fourth seed Aditya Vashistha beat Siddharth Thakran 6-1, 6-1. Fifth seed Srivatsa Ratakonda, however, won after losing the first set.
In the girls' under-18first round, top seed Eunhye Lee of Korea drubbed Chaithalli Adinath Narde (India) 6-0, 6-0, third seed Shivani Swarup Ingle got the better of Sai Dedeepya Yeddula 6-3,6-2 while fourth seed Vaidehi Chaudhury won all games against Himadri Kashyap for a comprehensive 6-0, 6-0 victory.
