Guwahati, Jan. 20: The Assam Electronics Development Corporation (Amtron) today signed a memorandum of understanding with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to develop information technology infrastructure and explore other opportunities in Assam.
The MoU was signed by Amtron managing director M.K. Yadava and TCS vice-president and global head, TCS-iON, V. Ramaswamy, in the presence of Assam IT minister Keshab Mahanta.
Yadava said the partnership would allow Amtron to take up much bigger projects, which will be mutually beneficial.
Describing the MoU as a "great opportunity to collaborate with the state government", Ramaswamy said TCS would try to tap the strong talent base available in Assam.
He said TCS will support Amtron by providing solutions and services to undertake short and long-term IT projects in solution support and process outsourcing. "Amtron can make use of the infrastructure created by TCS for providing IT-enabled services to other departments, agencies extending citizen services, recruitment assessment, automation of education sector and computerisation of public utility services in the state," Yadava said.
Additional chief secretary Alok Kumar, IT commissioner K.K. Dwivedi, IT secretary Nitin S. Khare and operations and delivery head, TCS-iON, Tarun Nehra, were present.
