Dhemaji: World TB Day was observed on Saturday with the theme "Wanted a leader for TB free world" by the District Health Society (Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme) Pasighat, East Siang district, headed by the district tuberculosis officer (DTO)-cum-programme officer Y. Perme.
An awareness rally was flagged off by chief councillor of the Pasighat Municipal Corporation, Kaling Doruk, at the Bakin Pertin General Hospital, Pasighat.
Doctors, staff of general nursing medical and assistant nursing matrons participated in the rally. Addressing the participants, Doruk said the rising number of TB patients is a cause of concern.
Doruk attributed the alarming rate of TB cases in the state to lack of dissemination of information and laid emphasis on generating more awareness to combat TB in the district.
Perme informed the participants on initiatives taken by the Arunachal Pradesh government through the RNTCP programme.
