Canoeing

Imphal: Eleven Manipur canoers found places in the 27-member Indian team selected for the Asian Canoe Sprint Racing Championship to be held in Tehran from Friday.
The Manipur players are: A. Ching Ching, A. Gyanjit, A. Yedafa, S. Romesh, H. Premchandra, O. Jamesboy, O. Bhakta, W. Amutombi, Kh. Bidyarani Devi, K. Sushila Devi and Sanjoy Singh.

Weightlifting

Imphal: Yambem Omika Devi won a gold medal in the 46th Women’s Junior National Weightlifting Championship that concluded in Chattisgarh on September 19. Omika participated in the 75kg category and lifted 70kg in snatch and 95kg in clean and jerk for the gold.

Climbing

Imphal: Maibam Shanta Singh successfully scaled the 6,473-metre-high Mt Kinnaur Kailash. The expedition was undertaken by the Indian Mountaineering Foundation. Of the 19 team members, 10 successfully scaled the peak.
