Assam names national team
Guwahati: The Assam branch of the World Shotokan Karate-do Federation, India, has named a 20-member state team to take part in the national championship at Khandala in Maharashtra from May 21 to 25. Prominent among the squad members are Syed Mazharul Islam, Rupak Rajbongshi, Niren Thakuria, Jugal Deka, Tapan Deka and Pabitra Rajbongshi. The team, to be accompanied by R.B. Guwahati: The Assam Cricket Association will rope in the services of Indian senior team physical trainer Ranadeep Moitra to train the state cricketers during the forthcoming summer coaching camp at Nehru Stadium and NF Railway Stadium here.Karate camp
Guwahati: Altogether 30 karatekas have been selected from the weeklong Guwahati first phase camp for the final phase of coaching-cum-selection camp of the all-style Karate-Do Association of Assam, to be held at Bongaigaon next month. More than 80 participants from Kamrup, Darrang, Assam Police and Guwahati took part in the camp, which concluded at Gauhati University here on Wednesday.
