Sarmah, Devi shine

Guwahati, Oct. 27: Priyanku Jyoti Sarmah and Sujeeta Devi annexed the men and women’s titles respectively in the 10-metre air pistol event in the 4th Assam State Shooting Championship that concluded at the Kahilipara Sports Shooting Range here on Sunday.

While Sarmah struck the bull’s eye to net 376 points, Devi tallied 359 points. Roddyz Mania and Hiren Konwar scored 372 and 362 points respectively to bag the men’s silver and bronze respectively while Sujibala Devi and Mamurani Gaonkhowa lifted the women’s silver and bronze respectively.

In the 10-metre air rifle event, Prodip Sharma and Anzima Boro clinched the men and women’s gold respectively. Bikash Thapa and Deep Jyoti Gogoi bagged the men’s silver and bronze respectively while Ranjita Basumatary and Krishna Singh had to settle for the women’s silver and bronze respectively.

Bipul Gohain clinched the men’s 25-metre standard pistol gold while Bhaba Kalita and Priyanku Jyoti Sarmah bagged the silver and bronze respectively.

Sujeeta Devi bagged the women’s 25-metre sports p istol gold while Sanjana Barua and Suji Bala won the silver and bronze respectively.

Bhaba Kalita, however, made up for missing out on the standard pistol gold to clinch the men’s 25-metre centre fire pistol gold. Bipul Buragohain and Hiren Konwar won silver and bronze respectively. In the 50-metre men’s free pistol, Nayanmoni Gohain bagged the gold followed by Priyanku Jyoti Sarmah and Dilip Gaonkhowa respectively.

Ashim Baruah claimed the men’s 50-metre prone position gold while Jubu Gayary and Kanak Chandra Das bagged silver and bronze respectively.

Ritu Raj Singh claimed the sub-junior air pistol gold while Jotishman Baruah won silver.
