Salute to NE talents at Prag awards

National award-winning film Village Rockstars bagged the best film award at the Prag Cine Awards here on Sunday evening.

Guwahati: National award-winning film Village Rockstars bagged the best film award at the Prag Cine Awards here on Sunday evening.

Dhokbu-The Keeper, a Lepcha film from Sikkim, bagged the best film of the Northeast.

Directed by young filmmaker Dawa Lepcha, the film's lead actor Lhakpa Lepcha won the best actor (male) award.

In the Northeast section, Leishangthem Tontohingambi (Tonthoi) Devi bagged the best actor (female) award for her performance in Iche Tampha from Manipur, while Rupak Gogoi bagged the best director's award for Khasi movie Gangs of North East.

English movie 3 Smoking Barrels bagged the best film award in other than Assamese section.

This time, the lifetime achievement award was conferred on veteran actor-filmmaker Kualada Kumar Bhattacharya.

In the other sections, Utpal Borpujari bagged the best director award for Ishu, Himjyoti Talukdar bagged the best debut director award for Assamese movie Calendar, Bhanita Das bagged the best actor (female) for Village Rockstars, while Arun Nath bagged the best actor (male) for Calendar.

The best film critic award was conferred on Mrinal Kumar Bora.

Veteran actor Pranjal Saikia bagged the best supporting actor (male) for Calendar, Rimjhim Deka bagged the best supporting actor (female) award for Priyar Priyo, Pradip Daimary and Suman Dowarah bagged the best cinematography award jointly for Mission China, while Rima Das won the best editing award for Village Rockstars.

Michele Josia and Anurag Saikia won the best music director's award for 3 Smoking Barrels, Amrit Pritam won the best sound designer award for Village Rockstars.

Siddhartha Hazarika and Anindita Paul bagged the best singer (male) best singer and (female) awards for Calendar. Tarali Sarma won the best lyricist award for the movie.

In the popular film section, Barasha Rani Bishaya won the best actor (female) award for Tumi Ahibane, while Zubeen Garg won the best actor (male) award for Priyar Priyo and Mission China. The best popular film award was conferred on Mission China, directed and produced by Zubeen.

In other sections, 3 Smoking Barrels's Shrirup Das bagged the best make-up artist award, Rani Dutta Baruah won the best costume designer award for Ishu, Kalpana Bora bagged the best art director award for Calendar, best choreography award went to the Din Jole Rati Jole of Mission China. Himjyoti Talukdar, Santanu Rowmuria and Jhulan Krishna Mahanta bagged the best screenplay writer award for Calendar.

Jury's special mention awards were conferred on Kenny Basumatary for Local Kung Fu 2, Kapil Garo for Ishu, Basanti Das for Village Rockstars and Munin Barua for Priyar Priyo.
