Guwahati, Sept. 14: Asam Sahitya Sabha today said its 74th biennial session would be held in cooperation with the people both in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh from February 1 to 4 in Tinsukia district.

The session will be held in two areas simultaneously-Burhidihing near the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border and Bordumsa. The two areas are 7km apart.

Earlier, the Sabha had decided to hold the session at Bordumsa. Sabha publicity secretary Debajit Borah said Burhidihing was chosen as another venue as Assamese people living in Arunachal requested the organisation to involve them in holding the session.

The Sabha has formed a reception committee to prepare for the session.

'The locals of both the areas have decided to serve the guests in their own residences,' Borah said.

The Sabha has requested the Assam government for its cooperation in holding the session. Among others, it appealed to the state government to improve infrastructure and provide adequate electricity connection in the two areas.

The Sabha said Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal recently promised the Sabha delegation Rs 20 lakh to make Xatabdi Bhawan, a building to commemorate 100 years of the Sabha.
