Blast in Dimapur injures 2

Unidentified miscreants lobbed a bomb inside a popular restaurant at Dhobinala Junction in Dimapur on Saturday evening, severely wounding two workers of the restaurant. Another escaped with minor injuries. he injured have been admitted to Civil Hospital Dimapur and a private nursing home.

Accidents

One person died while three more were injured when a truck and a bus collided at Tiloi in Dibrugarh on Sunday morning. In another incident, one person was killed and 12 injured in a bus mishap in Kokrajhar district on Sunday morning.

Rebel killed

A suspected militant was killed in an encounter with police on Saturday at Silkatari Nayachara in Kokrajhar district. One 9 mm pistol, one grenade and a CD were found on the militant. The rebel has not been identified.

Mizo demand

Group A officers of Mizoram government has demanded equal status in terms of payscale with engineers. They have won a court case against the government of Mizoram recently, and bolstered their demand with threats of mass casual leaves.

Inauguration

At the inauguration of the third edition of the Dainik Janambhumi in Tinsukia, poet Nilomoni Phukon on Sunday urged the state newspapers to retain their objectivity and stick to the basics of journalism even if they go for newer methods of technology.

Border visit

Union home secretary Dhirendra Singh visited the Indo-Bangladesh border, including the BSF border outpost at Suterkandi and Steamerghat border outpost in Karimganj.

Condolence

Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi has condoled the death of educationist Indira Miri, who passed away in Guwahati on Saturday. She was 94.

AASU meeting

The Centre will hold a meeting with AASU leaders in Guwahati on Tuesday to sort out the dispute regarding the execution of the Union home ministry’s scheme to issue multipurpose national identity card.
