Guwahati, June 30: Satyendra Kumar Choudhury, the first vice-chancellor of University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya, resigned from his post on Saturday citing “personal” reasons. He was earlier the director of Assam Science, Technology & Environment Council and associate professor of Cotton College. Guwahati: Police and local residents recovered a body on Saturday at Baihata Chariali in Kamrup (rural) district, which has been identified as that of Rabiya Chultana, 21, a resident of Khatubari village. Guwahati: A man was killed at Suradi in Nalbari district on Saturday, when a speeding car hit him. The body has not yet been identified. Tinsukia: Doomdooma police station officer-in-charge Biswajyoti Sharma, was arrested on Saturday on charges of allegedly killing his wife. His wife Moyuri Sharma allegedly commited suicide at their quarter in Doomdooma on Thursday. He was arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by the woman’s parents. Guwahati: Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Nabam Tuki on Saturday inaugrated the 75m steel bridge, the longest in the state over Pare river at Deb village under Sagalee sub-division of Papum Pare district. Dibrugarh: One Babai Saikia, 61, a resident of Liping Gaon under Rohmoria police station was arrested on charges of killing his son-in-law Lojen Gogoi with a sharp weapon on Saturday over some family dispute. His son Bitu Saikia, who was allegedly involved in the murder, is absconding.
