Award for NRL
• Guwahati, May 15: Numaligarh Refinery Limited today said it has bagged the National Technology Award 2017, instituted by the Technology Development Board under the department of science and technology, for commercialisation of wax de-oiling technology, developed jointly with the Indian Institute of Petroleum and Engineers India Limited.
Medals won
• Guwahati: A 15-member Assam vovinam team bagged 12 medals in the National Vovinam Championship at Babasaheb Ambedkar Matahawada University at Aurangabad in Maharashtra from May 5 to 9. The medal haul included two gold, four silver and six bronze.

• Imphal: Sesa Football Academy, Goa, has selected six under-17 Manipur players for a four-year programme during a trial held at Goa. The players are Biken Meitei, Rahish Khan, Naobi Singh, Shoaib Akhtar, S. Nongpoknchangba and Ben Johnson.
Notice
• Guwahati: The Assam excise department on Monday issued a notice clarifying that according to a Supreme Court order dated December 15, 2016, liquor shops cannot exist within 220m of a state or national highway in areas with a population of 20,000 or less.

Suicide
• Duliajan: Kanchan Ghosh, 55, wife of Sunil Ghosh, retired headmaster of Tipling Ghat High School, committed suicide on Monday in her bathroom in the house at Indrapuri under Duliajan police station in Dibrugarh district. She allegedly set herself afire.
Strays killed
• Dhemaji: Many stray goats and pigs were killed in a massive drive on Sunday to keep Daporijo, the headquarters of Upper Subansiri district in Arunachal Pradesh, clean and safe. The drive was carried out in Medical Tiniali, Polo Colony, Officers' Colony and Medical Colony in the town.
