Narrow win for DPS

Delhi Public School beat Happy Montessori School by a narrow margin of three runs in the 12th Dhan Sena Sinha Inter-school Cricket Tournament organised by Riverine Cricket Coaching Centre at Latasil ground here today.

Guwahati, June 8: Delhi Public School beat Happy Montessori School by a narrow margin of three runs in the 12th Dhan Sena Sinha Inter-school Cricket Tournament organised by Riverine Cricket Coaching Centre at Latasil ground here today.

The match was reduced to 15 overs each, owing to wet ground conditions.

Batting first, Delhi Public School put up a challenging total of 119 losing four wickets. Aryaman Tiwari scored 35 runs off 35 balls, hitting two fours and two sixes, while Hrishikesh Das chipped in with a quick 32 runs in 15 balls.

Iswar Yadav took two wickets and Kamakhya took one for Happy Montessori.

It was a cumulative effort from Happy Montessori, who put up a good fight and dragged the game to the last ball, but lost the last wicket when the score was 116. Rahul Singh scored 26 runs off 21 balls, hitting one four and two sixes, while Koushik Kalita contributed 16 runs including a towering six off 14 balls. Projoy Choudhury bagged three wickets while Rituraj Biswas took two.

The match between Asom Jatiya Bidyalay and Notun Fatashil High School was put on hold after a protest by Jatiya following their 17-run loss. The Bidyalay players alleged that their opponents had hired players. "Tomorrow, the players have been asked to provide proof that they belong to Notun Fatashil following which a decision will be taken," an organising committee member said.
