‘To strengthen their birth elements, earth people should surround themselves with earthen objects and earthy colours’

Earth is symbolic of mother, as it is fertile and provides nourishment to every form of life. Similar characteristics are reflected in people born under this element. They have a nourishing and nurturing nature and are good at looking after others. They are extremely tolerant but if it goes beyond their control they explode and erupt with the same fury as that of earthquakes and volcanoes.

Just as most of the earth’s treasures are hidden below the surface, people born under this sign have great treasures hidden within them but it takes time to unearth their marvellous qualities. They are extremely loyal and are like pillars of strength in hours of need. People with the earth element make improvements later on in their lives.

They are very practical and avoid taking rash decisions. They carefully weigh the pros and cons before venturing into any new project.

They are hard working and once they take up an assignment they make all efforts to complete it, often leading to overwork. Their looks are often deceptive. They are like coconuts — soft from within and hard from the outside.

By nature they are good at nurturing and do well in a profession that serves other people. To strengthen their birth elements they should surround themselves with earthen objects and earthy colours.

Professions suitable according to the five personal elements of earth, metal, water, fire and wood: Earth people make good doctors, nurses, teachers, therapists, healers, architects and property dealers.

Metal people make good managers, management consultants, planners, politicians, administrators, engineers, jewellers, software designers, electronic engineers, technical designers, scientists and computer operators.

Water people make good philosophers, gynaecologists, healers, therapists, teachers, sales executives, preachers and spiritual gurus.

Wood people make good fashion and interior designers, columnists, scriptwriters, authors, media executives, music composers and business analysts. Fire people make good public relations officers, lawyers, event managers, chefs, advertising executives, public speakers, stock market brokers, actors, comedians and dancers.

Each of the five elements of nature has individual energetic properties. They have specific identifying shapes and colours.

So we can strengthen our element according to the year we are born in with the related shapes and colours as well.

These are as follows:

Metal: This element is generally round in shape like gold, silver and copper coins. Metal people should keep their pockets and cupboards full of metal coins. It is great for wealth and financial success.

Water: Water has no shape and yet takes every shape. Anything irregular in shape like wavy patterns in furniture or furnishing and artefacts symbolises water. Water people greatly benefit by surrounding themselves with shades of blue. Transparent glass, mirrors, aquariums and water fountains strengthen their water element.

Wood: Trees are the perfect example of wood energy. Anything tall and green in colour symbolises growth and creation for wood people. These can be represented by paintings of nature like growing woods, flowers or striped pattern in furnishing. Wood people should have cylindrical or rectangular shaped furniture or artefacts made of paper or cloth in their surroundings. They have a natural fascination for gardens and flowers.

Fire: Flames suggest upward and angular shapes. Anything triangular in shape symbolises the fire element. All the vibrant colours like red, maroon, purple, mauve, peach and pink help to enhance the enthusiasm, motivation and intellect of fire people. They love to be in cheerful and lively surroundings.

Earth: Flat and square shapes represent the earth element. Everything that comes from the earth like stone, marble, granite, amethyst rocks, rose quartz, terracotta, crystals and semi-precious stones belong to the earth element. When surrounded by these, earth people find it easy to grow their roots and stabilise in their chosen professions. It increases their confidence as well. Their favourable colours are beige, cream, yellow and brown (colour of the soil).
