After that the team ran and informed the Lower Lampi border police outpost.

Platoon commander D. Singh of 4th Assam Battalion with a team reached the site, but the Meghalaya policeman had already left the area.

Police recovered four cartridges from the site.

On Tuesday, around noon, a police team, led by Kamrup district deputy superintendent of police Kalyan Pathak, along with Chaygaon police station officer-in-charge Rupam Hazarika and Boko officer-in-charge Jogendra Barman visited the area and spoke to the local people.

Later, they visited the border outpost in search of the Meghalaya policeman.

Pathak and his team met sub-divisional police officer of Mawshynrut, West Khasi Hills, Ialamlad Kharkongor.

Kharkongor said the name of the policeman is constable Wandronaph Kharbani.

His firearm was handed over in Nonstoin police station, West Khasi Hills district.

Ialamlad said a case had been registered against him in Meghalaya.
