Kohima, Sept. 23: Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung, clinched the overall championship title of Mokokchung District Inter-Government Higher Secondary and Secondary tournament, winning 14 medals — six gold, five silver and three bronze. The three-day tournament concluded today at Imkongmeren Sports Complex. The runners-up trophy went to Government High School, Changtongya, which bagged nine medals, including four gold. Government High School, Alongkima, was third with four gold, two silver and a bronze.

On the final day, Senayangba Government Higher Secondary School, Ungma defeated Mayangnokcha 2-0 in the boys’ football final while the Alongkima school defeated Mayangnokcha in the girls’ final.

Tzuyimdong and Alemeren, both from Mayangnokcha, shared the Best Athlete award in the boys’ section, winning two gold each. Imleinla, from the same team, was named Best Athlete in the girls’ section, with three medals.

The winners will represent Mokokchung in the state-level , to be held at the same venue from September 28.
