Imphal, July 16: Senior Manipur coach Soibam Ekendra Singh has joined Sporting Club De Goa as its new coach.

Fifty-one-year-old Ekendra, who has an Asian Football Confederation (AFC) A licence and is the technical director of All Manipur Football Association, has signed a contract for two years with the Goa club.

Sporting Club De Goa had initially wanted Ekendra to sign a four-year contract, but later both sides agreed to a two-year contract.

Ekendra, who led the Manipur team for the Santosh Trophy in Jammu and Kashmir recently, was also a regional course instructor of the Asian Football Confederation. He was awarded Coach of the Year title in 2004. He has also served as technical head of the Indian team in the 2nd Asian Under-19 Girls’ Championship held at Chennai in 2008.
