Guwahati, July 18: It is now the turn of promising Indians to change into the red jersey.

With the forward line taken care of by signing Trinidad and Tobago World Cupper Cornell Glen and Cameroon international Charles Edoa Nga, Shillong Lajong FC has signed goalkeeper Vinay Singh and defender Robin Gurung to strengthen the team’s defence for the I-League 2013-14 season, commencing in October.

The 20-year-old Robin Gurung, who hails from Sikkim, played for Oil and Natural Gas Corporation from 2010 to 2013, and the young defender will look to add depth to the current Lajong backline.

Glovesman Vinay Singh played for I-League champions Churchill Brothers from 2008 to 2011 and then joined Salgaocar SC from 2011 to 2013, before sealing his move to Shillong Lajong. Another Meghalaya club Rangdajied United will also feature in the I-League in the season ahead. Rangdajied had qualified for the elite league emerging champions in the second division I-League last season.

The club’s general manager, A. Shulai, had told The Telegraph that the club was in contact with players from other leading outfits, but they were yet to sign.

Rangdajied United, which has signed Santosh Kashyap as its coach, is yet to recruit any new player.
