Agartala, May 7: Gauhati High Court has suspended additional chief judicial magistrate of West Tripura Sujit Kumar Bardhan and judicial magistrate (first class) Hrishikesh Chakraborty for acting in violation of the spirit of a bail order passed by the high court earlier.
The order suspending the judges also transferred chief judicial magistrate of West Tripura Shyamal Saha to Udaipur, headquarters of South Tripura, and directed the judicial magistrate of North Tripura district, Sudipta Chowdhury, to take over charge from Chakraborty.
Chief judicial magistrate of South Tripura Tridib Roy-Bowmik will replace Shyamal Saha as chief judicial magistrate of West Tripura.
Sources said the suspension orders would be followed by an investigation and “bigger punishment may follow if the duo are found guilty”.
They said Bardhan and Chakraborty had paid for trying to help their senior colleague and additional district and sessions judge Samir Ranjan Deb.
