Guwahati, Jan. 20: Santipur AC today flaunted seven Ranji Trophy players to decimate Gauhati Town Club in the inaugural tie of the third Bud challenge cricket meet at Nehru Stadium here.
Propelled by an explosive 79 off 56 balls by Man of the Match R. Satish, opener Tauhid Ali Talukdar (57 off 59 balls), Ranji skipper Syed Zakaria Zuffri (51 off 50 balls) and V. Saravanan (33 off 28 balls), Santipur posted 293 for seven in 40 overs. Town Club could not recover from the hammering and ended their chase at 59 in 12.4 overs.
Barring the first-wicket stand of 22 between Subhrajit Saikia (12 off 14) and Pritam Debnath (16 off 21), the rest crashed like nine pins as Satish (3/7) and Sujay Tarafdar (4/21) rocked the innings.
Utpal Medhi (3/53) and Saikia (2/55) were the successful bowlers for Town Club.
Tomorrow, Guwahati Cricket Coaching Centre will meet Ankurjyoti Club.
Umpire: The Assam Cricket Association?s assistant secretary Ashish Bhattacharjee has been appointed umpire for inter-railway women?s meet in Mumbai from January 22.
