Nagaon, Jan. 6: Rangia, Silchar and Dibrugarh have entered the women’s football semi-finals in the 2nd State Games with nine, seven and six points respectively in their kitty.
Dibrugarh tamed Jorhat 5-1 and Rangia blanked out Karbi Anglong 3-0 in women’s football.
Guwahati triumphantly crushed Silchar 9-0 on the men’s turf in three league matches of the championship in two different venues today.
In the first women’s match at Mini Stadium in Puranigudam near here, Dibrugarh led 3-0 till the end of the first half with striker Rekha Sonowal scoring the first goal in the 8th minute.
Midfielder Dorothy Uria scored the second and fifth goals in the 28th and 55th minutes respectively.
Rina Murari and Phulanti Tiru proved their mettle and scored the third and fourth goals in the 30th and 44th minutes respectively.
Rangia played to a goalless draw with Karbi Anglong till the end of the first half at the same venue.
However, the Rangia team came back stronger after the lemon break to pump in three goals in quick succession.
Striker Ranju Moni Brahma, midfielder Pranati Basumatary and substitute Mitali Muahari netted the three goals in the 47th, 49th and 57th minutes respectively.
The last league match between Nagaon and Charaideo will decide the fourth semi-finalist team tomorrow.
On the men’s turf, Guwahati, Tezpur, Nagaon and Dibrugarh have qualified for the semi-finals.
Silchar was drubbed by Dibrugarh 0-7 in the last league match at Rajib Gandhi Sports Complex at Bajiagaon today.
Dibrugarh striker Bhim Kanta Sonowal scored three goals in the 13th, 52nd and 79th minutes.
Jayanta Basumatary scored two in the 40th and 72nd minutes.
Midfielder Manas Manjil Chetia scored a brace in the 44th and 47th minutes and left winger F. Wary scored a single goal in the 43rd minute.
Prasanta Chaudhury scored the seventh goal for Dibrugarh in the 71st minute.
Guwahati will meet Tezpur and Nagaon meet Dibrugarh in the two semi-final matches tomorrow.
In hockey, hosts Nagaon emerged champions defeating Tezpur 5-0 in the final today. Sivasagar secured the third position.
In archery, Bipul Boro and Pankaj Das of Guwahati bagged gold in the men’s 30 metre and 50-metre categories.
Anima Basumatary of Nagaon tallied a gold in the 30-metre event.
Kamini Boro of Kokrajhar bagged a gold in the 50-metre women’s category.
In taekwondo, Kokrajhar women shone with four gold medals. Banti Basumatary, Purnima Ramchiary, Sanju Boro and Rekha Rani Roy scored gold in women’s 46, 49, 57 and 73kg events respectively.
Rekha Rani Gogoi and Pritima Gogoi of Lakhimpur bagged a gold each in the women’s 62kg and 67kg categories.
Ajay Bhaskar of Nagaon scored a gold in the men’s 54kg category while Ajay Boro and Kakonjoy Narzary of Kokrajhar tallied gold in men’s 68kg and 74kg respectively.
Bir Chandra Basumatary of Nalbari won a gold in the 63kg category.
