Guwahati, July 4: Guwahati will meet last year’s runners- up Kokrajhar in the second semi-final of the 40th inter-district junior football championships in Karbi Anglong on Sunday.

Semi-finalists in the last edition, both teams today notched up crushing victories over Barpeta (8-0) and Biswanath Chariali (4-2) respectively.

Striker Sochumi Raleng scored six goals, while Vijay Prasad netted a brace for Guwahati in grossly one-sided match.

Hosts Karbi Anglong had yesterday carved out a hard-fought 4-2 win over another of last year’s semi-finalists Gossaigaon in the second quarterfinal.

They will meet defending champions Silchar in the first semi-final tomorrow.

Mizo boxer’s feat

Mizoram girl Jenny Lalremliani will represent the country at the international boxing championships (invitation) in Hungary in August–September, reports our Aizawl correspondent.

She and three other Mizo women boxers will attend a camp at the SAI Calcutta centre and undergo advanced training in North Korea before the championships in Europe.
