Golaghat, July 18: The court of the district and sessions judge, Golaghat, went a step ahead in becoming an e-court with the installation of an information system kiosk launched under the National eGovernance Policy (NeGP) for computerisation of courts.

Earlier, the litigants and the advocates had to approach bench assistant of courts for any data or information relating to case status, orders, judgments and daily cause list.

But with the installation of this kiosk, the advocates as well as the litigants can have access to all relevant information by operating the touch screen device themselves.

Monjul Kumar Nath, systems officer of Golaghat court, said the kiosk installed recently would reduce the burden on the court officials and benefit the litigants in getting any information relating to their cases.

“It is a one-stop information booth where the advocates and litigants can search the case history and other associate details of a particular case and can check daily orders and judgments. In the near future, the judgments of the Supreme Court and high courts will be made available in the kiosk,” he added.

An ICT (information and communication technology) consisting of computer server room (CSR) and judicial service centres (JSC) has also been constructed in the court premise. “Golaghat Bar Association is thankful to the authorities that such a system has been provided in Golaghat court,” Tridib Bezbaruah, secretary of Golaghat Bar Association, told The Telegraph.

The court of the district and sessions judge, Golaghat, was inaugurated on August 13, 1988.
