Guwahati, Feb. 27: Former Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi today appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make the clauses of the August 2015 framework agreement between the Centre and the NSCN (I-M) public to prove his claim that it does not compromise the territorial integrity of any state.
Modi had said in an election rally in Imphal on Saturday that there was not a single word in it about compromising the territorial integrity of any state. He was addressing more than 50,000 people at Langjing Achouba ground in Imphal West district on a day CorCom, a militant conglomerate, had called a complete shutdown of the state.
Manipur will go to the polls on March 4 and 8.
In a statement, Gogoi today said, "It is still a mystery as the clauses of the accord are kept under the carpet even today. We welcome the Naga peace deal but it is quite astonishing why the clauses of the agreement are kept in the dark. To keep such an important document under wraps for long raises doubts about its veracity. We will oppose tooth and nail any move that may affect the interest of Assam."
He urged Modi to ensure that the geographical boundary of each state under the framework of the Constitution was kept intact.
