Fifth round of Bodoland talks held

The fifth round of tripartite talks among the Centre, the Assam government and the groups demanding Bodoland was held in New Delhi today.

Kokrajhar, June 9: The fifth round of tripartite talks among the Centre, the Assam government and the groups demanding Bodoland was held in New Delhi today.

The meeting was chaired by Sambhu Singh, joint secretary, home. It was attended by the All Bodo Students Union, Bodo People's Progressive Front, United Democratic People's Front and the Peoples Joint Action Committee for Boroland Movement.

Absu president Pramod Boro said the meeting resolved to hold the next round of talks in July in New Delhi and discuss issues other than Bodoland in the last week of June or first week of July in Guwahati. The delegates submitted a memorandum to Union home minister Rajnath Singh, seeking policy decision on Bodoland, implementation of the Centre's commitment to include Boro-Kacharis of Karbi Anglong into ST hills and to ensure political rights for Bodos living outside the proposed Bodoland.
