Dibrugarh: The Duliajan Football Academy (DFA) is organising a selection trial on its grounds in Duliajan on February 5 and 6 to scout talented youngsters to join the Tata Football Academy (TFA).

The Tata academy has begun selection trials for induction of players.

DFA president Madhab Buragohain said the trials began in Ranchi, Jharkhand, on November 24, 2017, to select talented players in their academy.

"Duliajan Football Academy has been selected to hold the selection trials in Assam. We are proud that TFA selected our venue for the trial. The shortlisted players have to go for final selection to Jamshedpur," Buragohain said.

He said the trial procedure at the TFA is highly competitive and attracts some of the best talents from all over the country. Aspirants will be tested on their performance in match situations, technical skills, tactical awareness and physical ability.

DFA technical director Lukas Rabha and assistant technical director Bhupen Gogoi will supervise the trials.

"It will be a test for budding football players across the state to exhibit their skills in the trial to get selected for TFA. Some of our young football players are very excited and are practising hard for selection in the trial. Vinit Rai Chamling is from Duliajan Football Academy and was selected in TFA. He now plays for Delhi Dynamos at the Indian Super League," DFA secretary Jitu Chetri said.

He said football players from the Northeast are doing well at the national level and making their mark by playing good football.

"We wish the selection trials will be a learning curve for budding footballers in the region," he said. He said they have to carry their school certificate and other important documents to the trial.

TFA's main objective is to provide mainstream national football with a perennial pool of young ace footballers, trained and oriented to international standards. The strategy is to catch them young and give them the best in terms of training.
