Nov. 26: The College Week celebrations at the Gauhati Medical College Hospital concluded today.

The programmes ended with a cultural night organised this evening, wherein popular singers Bidyasagar, Sandhya Menon and others enthralled the audience. Gauhati University vice-chancellor Amar Jyoti Choudhury inaugurated the event.

Besides wracking their brains in the quiz and debates, teachers and students of the medical college participated in dance, fashion and sports events during the weeklong programme.

GMC Students’ Union president Manas Jyoti Taw said: “Gone are the days when medical students were seen as guys who don’t do anything apart from poring over fat books, attending classes and dissecting in laboratories. The number of medical students who participate in extracurricular activities is increasing rapidly. This time, the College Week was a big hit at the GMCH. Teachers’ Night, held on Saturday, was another pleasant experience,” Taw said.

Taw said the College Week also served as an occasion for students to discuss ways to involve themselves in the pursuit of socially relevant causes.
