Mishaps kill five

Jorhat, Dec. 25: Five persons were killed in two road mishaps on Thursday night in Dibrugarh and Sivasagar districts. Two youths on a bike collided with a truck on NH 37 at Moran. Three persons travelling in a Maruti Alto were killed when their car hit a parked truck at Jholong on NH 37 in Sivasagar district.

Bomb found

Jorhat: A bomb inside a tiffin box was recovered on Thursday night from a forest near Borpatra tea estate in Sivasagar district.

Jorhat: The Jorhat district unit of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, along with the Jorhat branch of Red Cross Society, held a blood donation camp on the Marwari Thakurbari premises on Friday.

Arrested

Kokrajhar: Two persons, involved in timber smuggling, were arrested at Bhur Tinali in Chirang district on Friday. Logs, tractor and a motorbike were recovered from the smugglers.

Agartala, Dec. 25: Harinath Debbarma of the Indigenous People’s Front of Twipra has joined the newly formed Twipraland State Party, according to the release by party president Chittaranjan Debbarma.
