Kokrajhar, May 25: Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi today inaugurated the DoNER-funded 1.12km RCC bridge over Aie river, including approach roads on Chapaguri-Malivita road, in Chirang district.
DoNER minister Paban Singh Ghatowar, BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary, PWD minister Ajanta Neog and tourism minister Chandan Brahma were also present on the occasion. The bridge was constructed on the 7km long Chapaguri-Malavita road.
The project is a boon for the people of Malivita and Amteka who have to travel 40km through Bijni town to reach Chapaguri road connecting NH 31(C) to reach Bongaigaon or Kokrajhar or any other parts of the state.
The bridge curtails the total distance by 40km. The Chapaguri-Malavita road connects India with Bhutan at Sasipur in Chirang district.
