Models pose in boots designed by Shillong shoemaker James Syiemiong, seeking a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Syiemiong has started commercial production of his shoes, which stand at a staggering 17 inches at the platforms and 20 inches in the heels, all done in denim and red and black leather.

Priced at Rs 20,000 a pair, the shoes come with a health warning: the manufacturer of the shoe cannot be held responsible for any injury clients may sustain while wearing them. Syiemiong is confident that his efforts will surpass the record held by a UK firm with 11 inches platform and 16 inches heel. A Telegraph picture
