Guwahati, March 15: The Opposition BJP on Tuesday said despite chief minister Tarun Gogoi’s announcements that no person with criminal charges would be given tickets, the ruling Congress list of 118 candidates for next month’s Assembly elections included 10 candidates with criminal charges.

Party spokesperson Vijay Kumar Gupta said the 10 Congress candidates with criminal charges were Debabrat Saikia, Mahibul Haque, Siddique Ahmed, Jayanta Das, Inamul Haque, Sanjay Rai Subba, Tarapat Das, Suresh Bora and Piyush Hazarika.

He also announced the names of BJP candidates for five constituencies — Binita Brahma in Kokrajhar East, Hemanga Thakuria in Palasbari, Atul Sharma in Dharmapur, Diganta Ghatowar in Biswanath and Banti Bania in Lakhimpur.

The party is likely to give tickets to JD (U) candidates in five constituencies of Dhing, South Salmara , Samaguri, Majuli and Chapaguri.
