Shillong, May 31: The Indian Airlines and Audit Department East Zone badminton championship 2006 concluded at the U Tirot Sing Indoor Stadium here today.

The tournament was organised by the office of the principal accountant general (audit). Teams from all accountant general offices in the zone participated in the meet.

In the men?s singles final, T. Yabang of the Nagaland office defeated Gordon Rynjah of the Meghalaya office 21-9 and 21-16. Yabang then teamed up with Areb Ao, also from Nagaland, to outplay the Bengal tandem of Samardeep Das and Joydeep 23-21 and 21-7 for the doubles crown.

In the women?s singles final, Pratibha Kumari of the Bihar office beat J. Warjri of the Meghalaya 21-10 and 21-12.
