Itanagar, Feb. 20: Arunachal Pradesh today celebrated its 21st Statehood Day with the entire state wearing a festive look.

The government awarded seven gold and eight silver medals to individuals for their service to the state over the past year.

Union home minister Shivraj Patil was the chief guest. “I was touched by the love and affection of the Arunachalees when I had arrived here as defence minister 20 years ago. I feel nice to be here on such an important occasion,” he said.

He added that the people of Arunachal have always stood against adversities and put up a brave front against all odds. “The peace-loving people of Aruncahal Pradesh have always set a unique example of unity in diversity. The topography of the land has made them tough enough to fight external aggressors threatening the sovereignty of the country” .
