SEVEN-A-SIDE HOCKEY
Imphal, Feb. 29: Assam Regimental Centre, Shillong, drubbed Moral Education Intellectual Renascent Athletic Association 8-0 goals in the fourth Y. Rashmani Invitation Seven-a-Side Men's Open Hockey Tournament, 2016, at Kontha Ahallup in Imphal East.
It was an easy victory for the ARC, Shillong, team
Chittaranjan Singh led the charge for the Shillong outfit when he struck five goals while teammates Romenkumar Singh chipped in with two and Jotin Singh fetched one for victory.
In the other matches of the day, Bishnupur District Hockey Association beat South Eastern Youth Organisation by 7-3 goals. H. Mani Singh led the charge for Bishnupur scoring four goals while M. Sanjoymani, W. Bronson and M. Robichandra chipped in with a goal each.
The next match saw Southern Youth United Club beat Posterior Hockey Academy Manipur by 13-4 goals. For Southern Youth team, Dineshwor Singh and L. Mantosh struck four goals each while Anil Singh struck his hattrick and Sh. Amujao got one goal. For Posterior, Ningamba, T. Sushil Roy, Ksh. Priyobrata and W. Bipin chipped in with a goal each.
Under-16 football: MTSU, Malom, moved into the final of the 12th TBSFA Under-16 Boys' Football Tournament, 2016, beating LFA, Thinungei, 3-2 at Tabungkhok, Imphal West, today. Y. Happyson put the Maolm team ahead after six minutes. However, N. Maheschand fetched the equaliser for LFA, Thingungei, in the 20th minute to level 1-1 goals.
In the second half, LFA, Thinungei, took the lead when H. Anand scored in the 37th minute. Later, Malom turned the tables, riding N. Happyson's quickfire in the 52nd and 60th minutes for the victory today.
Memorial football: Neroca FC beat AFC, Thoubal, 4-1 in the 12th DSA Kakching Trohpy for N. Bhubon Memorial State-Level Invitation Football Tournament, 2016, at Kakching ground.
Offor Emeka Christian provided the lead for Neroca FC in the 18th minute and later Chingkhei Meitei conoslidated in the 32nd minute to make it 2-0. AFC, Thoubal, pulled back one goal through Noren Singh in the 41st minute. Chingkhei Meitei struck again for Neroca FC in the 45th minute to make it 3-1. Later Johnson struck the winning goal in the 75th minute. In yesterday's inaugural match, Southern Sporting Union beat Moirang FC by 3-2 goals.
