Imphal: The All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) has sought the views of its 146 members through individual affidavits regarding the functioning of the office in the wake of numerous litigations by stakeholders.
The AMFA move came after the high court issued an order on April 24 directing the association to take the opinion of its stakeholders, particularly office bearers, executive council members, district representatives and life members (without voting rights).
The association has 38 life members (without voting rights), four honorary life members (without voting rights) and 104 district representatives with voting rights. Its executive council has a strength of 30 members but is left with 23 after the resignation of seven members.
The members were asked to express their views on the state of affairs of the association by filling an individual affidavit within two weeks from Friday.
The high court, considering PIL no. 14 of 2018 from a petitioner, felt appropriate to have an idea what ails AMFA.
The current fracas arose out of the assault of a referee by club officials and fans during a match of the 12th Manipur State League in November leading to imposition of fines and later expulsion of nine teams from the league.
The aggrieved teams had moved the court and later Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Manipur.
The AMFA has already abandoned the 12th Manipur State League, while other tournaments, including the prestigious Sir Churachand Singh Memorial Football Tournament, have not been held so far.
