Imphal, April 5: L. Amarjit Singh bagged the champion’s title in the boys’ singles event of the Thangmeiband Athletic Union Tennis Tournament played at the union’s sports complex today.

In the final of the under-14 boys’ singles, L. Amarjit Singh defeated Thoihenba Singh 2-1.

Thoihenba Singh took the first set 6-2.

However, Amarjit Singh came back strongly in the second and third sets, winning 6-2, 6-2.

W. Premjit Singh won the men’s singles title, defeating T. Brojendro Singh in straight sets of 6-3, 6-3.

In the women’s singles final, Ksh. Yaiphabi Devi defeated her rival S. Sonia Devi in straight sets of 6-2, 6-3.

In the men’s double final, N. Premjit Singh and Lelenjee defeated T. Brojendro Singh and M. Sanjay Singh in a hard-fought game.

Brojendro and Sanjay won the first set 6-4 but the second set was a hotly contested game, as Premjit and Lelenjee took it by 7-6 (7-2).

The pair prevailed in the third game, taking it by 6-2, to win the title.
