Dhemaji, Dec. 5 : The Simen Chapori unit of the AASU today blocked NH 52 for three hours demanding an end to encroachment at Simen Chapori reserve forest.

The blockade was organised in the heart of Simen Chapori market, through which the national highway passes, nearly 72km from here.

The general secretary of the Simen Chapori unit of AASU, Sanjiv Das, said despite repeated appeals, the administration has not done anything to remove encroachment.

He said if the administration failed to take steps to evict the settlers, the blockade would be extended for 12 hours. Today's blockade was lifted after Jonai circle officer Manoranjan Paying assured agitators of immediate action.
