Guwahati: The Airports Authority of India has warned job aspirants to be cautious of fraudsters promising employment at the AAI.

An AAI official said it has come to their notice that fraudulent advertisements for recruitment and job offers are being made by some unscrupulous persons forging the AAI's name and its logo in a bid to dupe job seekers by collecting money from them after issuing fake appointment letters.

"There were also instances when candidates have fallen for the claims without verifying if they are genuine," he said.

According to the official, a few months back, five youths had reached the AAI office here with fake appointment letters and they had to be turned away.

"There was no vacancy of any kind and they were duped by some fraudsters. We are also receiving calls from candidates even from places like Chandigarh, enquiring about jobs in the AAI. These fraudsters initially ask potential candidates to send their resumés, marksheets, certificates besides identity proof among others. After they do so, they are asked to deposit money for securing the job," the official said.

According to him, this appears to be a nationwide racket as similar incidents are being reported from across the country.

"It was also found that certain websites are showing the AAI's vacancy position. It is clarified that no website or agency has been authorised by the AAI either to show vacancy position on their site or to accept any application for recruitment for AAI's vacancies," the source said.

He said vacancies and recruitment in the AAI are notified on its website, Employment News, Rojgar Samachar and other leading newspapers and the link to apply is available only on AAI's official website www.aai.aero and not on any other website.

"Only application fee is payable at the time of online registration and no other payment is sought at any stage of recruitment," the source clarified. "All prospective job aspirants are requested to exercise caution and not to be misled by any false advertisement," he said.
