Sunday Classics: Meg Ryan’s red turtleneck from 1989

Remembering Sally Albright’s style during Meg Ryan’s birth month

Published 28.11.21, 12:20 AM

Who doesn’t want to look like Meg Ryan during a glorious fall month in a late 80s-early 90s rom-com? With the mercury gradually dipping in our city, Kolkatans might just be handed the perfect opportunity to emulate Ryan’s style this month — she turned 60 on November 19 —  by donning comfy red turtlenecks reminiscent of the iconic sweater she wore in Nora Ephron’s 1989 classic, When Harry Met Sally.

Even 32 years later, Ryan’s look book in the movie as Sally Albright remains an autumn style bible for many. As Sally squats next to Billy Crystal’s Harry in his Manhattan apartment, holding a bottle of Evian and discussing their failed dating attempts, it’s impossible to ignore her bright red fisherman’s knit. It’s a comfy, versatile staple, and can definitely enhance a winter outfit better than an average hoodie.

Wear it like Sally did!
