Fifty years ago, Tevye’s daughters sported apron-inspired frocks in the film adaptation of the Broadway musical, Fiddler on the Roof.  Now they’re back, dominating several Spring 2022 ready-to-wear collections – from Max Mara to Walter Chiapponi to the magical Marine Serre. Of course, all credit goes to the pandemic for inducing comfort-first fashion.

A juxtaposition of comfy and chic, this apron dress from Street 9 is a dusky-pink velvety fabric which emits an opulent vibe. There’s symmetry in that bib-style front and side pockets. Our favourite milkman’s daughters paired their apron dresses with Mary Jane shoes, but a petite pair of peep-toes or strappy gladiator sandals are still a cool way to go.

Celebrate this golden jubilee by nailing the retro look!
